In honor of the attempts to get an Ed Wood statue placed in his hometown of Poughkeepsie, enjoy this still from 1955's "Bride of the Monster" featuring Bela Lugosi and Tor Johnson. In my opinion, Ed Wood's title of "Worst Director of all Time" is highly undeserved. Though cheaply shot and poorly acted, his films have a cohesion and sense of authorship that is unique among his contemporaries — where Roger Corman films are made with an anonymous mercenary aesthetic, there is some sense of individuality that shines through in an Ed Wood film.
